WHY OUR RISERS?

Turner manhole riser rings solve a major challenge for today’s street maintenance crews: raising manhole castings to grade quickly, affordably, and permanently. Conventional brick-and-mortar methods are expensive and time-consuming. Cast-iron and steel extension rings are prone to shattering, shearing, and popping out of asphalt. Turner rings deliver the strengths of both approaches without the drawbacks. Our risers install in under a minute, cut down on crew hours, and eliminate complaints caused by loose, rattling lids.

Each Turner ring is engineered for precision and durability. Our composite rings are injection-molded to produce a precise, durable product that fits the exact dimensions of the casting. The result is a riser ring so dense and perfectly fitted that it forms a permanent seal capable of withstanding harsh road conditions without cracking. Turner rings can be installed before or after asphalt overlay, helping crews reduce costs, cut manpower requirements, and save tens of thousands of dollars annually.

TEST RESULTS

FJ Turner Co. manhole riser rings are thoroughly tested to ensure durability and strength for road and utility scenarios. See our test results below.

We ran a proof load test on “MHEXT 24150PE – 24” x 1-1/2” composite manhole riser. The procedure included an FJ Turner Co. riser placed over a manhole frame and covered with a common manhole cover. The full assembly was placed on a calibrated 0-100,000 pounds DK No. I Universal Testing Machine and a concentrated load was applied at center using a 1/4-inch thick reinforced rubber pad (shore hardness “A” 80) on which a 1-inch thick 9-inch by 9-inch square steel plate was placed.

Ten percent of the load required was applied @ 5,000 lbs for one minute. The load was applied to the assembly at a rate of 50,000 pounds per minute. Once attained, the 50,000 pound proof load was applied for one minute.
